WA winner takes out $16 million Powerball prize

16 October 2014

WA has taken home a $16,666,666 Division 1 prize in tonight's Powerball jackpot.

The $50 million Powerball jackpot was split three ways, with Australia's other two Division 1 winning tickets sold in Victoria.

The winning ticket in WA was sold at Padbury News and Post and is the highest Lotto prize to be won in the State this year, topping a $15 million prize won in April.

Lotterywest spokesperson Pina Compagnone said tonight's draw had created excitement and anticipation with local players daring to dream about this potentially life changing prize.

"We're absolutely delighted that a local player has shared in tonight's big jackpot. WA's tally of Division 1 Lotto winners for the year has now reached 70 and these winners have shared in over $111 million worth of prizes," she said.

Tonight's $50 million Powerball jackpot has also delivered prizes worth $2.9 million to 139,814 other WA winners.

Lotterywest encourages all players who may have purchased a ticket in the draw to check them for the winning numbers. Tonight's winning Powerball numbers were 13, 9, 26, 18, 4, 34 and the Powerball is 3.

It's not just WA winners that benefited from tonight's draw, with ticket sales over the six weeks of Powerball jackpotting helping Lotterywest to raise $10 million to support the WA community.

Powerball will offer a $3 million Division 1 prize in next Thursday's draw.

Lotterywest is looking forward to meeting WA's newest Powerball multi-millionaire.
