WA Lotto winners on a roll in 2015

20 September 2015

Two of the nation's four Saturday Lotto Division 1 winners were Western Australian players who will each be collecting a $1,049,345 prize.

Saturday night's winning tickets were sold at Esperance Lottery Centre and Newsagency and Maylands Park Lottery Centre and News.

It's been over two years since Esperance Lottery Centre and Newsagency last sold a Division 1 winning ticket. This was a Powerball ticket for a draw in May 2013 which saw a lucky winner from the Goldfields-Esperance region claim a $10,000,000 prize.

It had been a little longer for Maylands Park Lottery Centre and News whose last Division 1 winner was in August 2011 when they sold a $333,333 Wednesday Lotto ticket.

"It's terrific to see Saturday Lotto's good fortune spread through WA from the Perth Metropolitan area through to the Esperance region," said Lotterywest spokesperson Jody Nunn.

"WA is doing an amazing job of making its players Division 1 winners. This time last year we had celebrated 63 Division 1 winners whereas this year our winners tally is at 78, 15 more than the same time in 2014," she said.

Not only have the quantity of Division 1 winners increased this year, so has the amount of money they have shared in. So far WA's 78 Division 1 winners have shared in almost $189 worth of prizes, an increase of $98 million compared to this time last year.

It's not just WA's weekend winners who have reason to rejoice after their Lotto wins with 33 cents out of every dollar spent on Lotterywest Games going back to support the local community.

Constable Care Child Safety Foundation Incorporated received this support earlier this year with a $950,000 Lotterywest Grant. These funds were used towards the construction of a Road Safety School in Maylands that will provide a practical, experiential learning program on road, bike and public transport safety for children.
