Thousands of smiles in first Set for Life draw
Tonight the first draw in Set for Life, the first lottery game to be launched in Australia in almost 20 years, has held on to its 1st Prize of $20,000 a month for 20 years.
While the first draw didn't deliver a 1st Prize winner, 27,300 winners from around the nation picked up a prize in levels 3 to 8 sharing in $316,061. In Western Australia, we are celebrating 8,243 winners.
Lotterywest spokesperson Pina Compagnone said that Set for Life, the first and only lottery game in Australia to be drawn every night of the week, had been well received by local players this week, creating a lot of anticipation.
"Our retailers have reported support from a new generation of Lotto players who are absolutely thrilled about the new game and have purchased tickets," Ms Compagnone said.
"More than 100,000 tickets were sold across WA in tonight's first Set for Life draw, exceeding our expectations. We want this support to continue so we can celebrate our first WA winner in the coming draws."
Lotterywest retailer and owner of Hutton Street Lottery Centre and Newsagency in Osborne Park Sushie Govender, said her store had been extremely busy with lots of customers enquiring about the new game.
"We're finding that customers are most happy by the fact that every night for seven days they have a chance to win something with just one ticket," she said.
Sandy Santoso from Newstime Lottery Centre in Perth said there had been plenty of excitement around.
"Customers have gotten on board saying it's something different and they'd certainly enjoy $20,000 a month for 20 years!" she said.
Although the first Set for Life draw has delivered no 1st Prize winners, tonight kicks off the start of many more chances to have a Set for Life win.
Set for Life draws are conducted every night of the week, 365 days each year. Draw close off is 7.00pm AWST. If won, there are up to four guaranteed 1st Prizes of $20,000 a month for 20 years in every Set for Life draw.
When you play Set for Life, you don't just play your SETS of numbers in a single draw, these numbers are played every day across 7 consecutive daily draws. Players can also start their 7 day Set for Life entry on any day and tickets start from just $8.40.
Set for Life is the first new national lottery game launched in Australia since Powerball was introduced in 1996.
$40 million jackpot on offer Tuesday
Not only is excitement surrounding Australia's new lottery game Set for Life, but after six weeks of no-one in Australia being able to match the winning numbers for OZ Lotto, the game has jackpotted to $40 million.
The $40 million prize is the equal largest jackpot offered in OZ Lotto this year.
Tickets for next Tuesday's $40 million OZ Lotto jackpot are available until 6pm on the day of the draw from Lotterywest retailers, Play Online at lotterywest.wa.gov.au or via the Lotterywest app.
It's not just WA winners that benefit following these jackpot rolls; over the six weeks of OZ Lotto's jackpot run, more than $5 million has been raised for the WA community. Next week's jackpot is set to raise a further $2 million.
