Superdraw success means financial worries are over for Lotto winner
Two of WA's three Division 1 winner's from the weekend's $21 million Saturday Lotto Superdraw have already visited Lotterywest Head Office to claim their prizes.
A Kalgoorlie woman who purchased her winning ticket from Lotterywest's Play Online service shared that she didn't sleep a wink on Saturday night after realising she'd won Division 1.
"This was the first time I'd played my special numbers on Play Online and I won! It feels so surreal," said the woman.
The Kalgoorlie local said she needed to remind her husband twice to put on her Lotto numbers for the Superdraw.
"We could have missed out if we didn't buy that ticket! Then we would be having an entirely different conversation!" the woman said.
As a small business owner with a business loan as well as a home loan the woman was elated that their financial worries were now over.
"I have to keep pinching myself - we're financially secure! My husband can stop turning grey now!" laughed the woman.
The win has meant they can also help their children financially and book a nicer hotel for an upcoming holiday.
A syndicate of eight were next in the Winner's Room to claim their Division 1 prize from Forrestfield Marketplace News.
The friends had only been in the syndicate for five months before they hit 'the big one' and now share a $1,615,384.62 prize.
"I screamed out when I saw all six numbers on the ticket! We are all very excited," said one of the syndicate winners.
The syndicate have said their prize has eased financial pressure and allows them to pay bills yet have some money still behind them.
It's not just the thousands of WA winners that benefitted from the Superdraw; Lotterywest raised more than $4 million for the WA community.
Community groups to receive Lotterywest support include the Kalgoorlie-Boulder Community Fair Society who received a $15,000 Lotterywest Grant last month.
These funds will be used towards the 2015 Kalgoorlie Boulder Community Fair which will give the surrounding communities an opportunity to come together in celebration.
