Stunned Australind man collects Megadraw millions

6 January 2015

An Australind man has officially come forward to claim his $2.72 million Division 1 Lotto prize from the weekend's Megadraw.

The South West winner's weekly tradition of checking his Lotto tickets proved more exciting than usual as he ticked off all six winning numbers.

"I saw I had the first three numbers and thought this is promising. When the winning numbers just kept coming I couldn't believe it, I was stunned! I even took a photo of the ticket and sent it to a family member to verify it was true," he said.

The Australind man said his win had come following a few tough years of facing some health challenges.

"Luck is on my side now and I hope it continues. Although I still plan on working, I'm going to sit back, relax a bit more and think carefully about how I will spend the money," he said.

Plans for the Megadraw winner included travelling around Australia and sharing some of his good fortune with family.

The Australind man was one of 11 Division 1 winners from across the country in the weekend's $30 million Megadraw.

A further 353,892 WA winners picked up a prize in the Megadraw, including 45 players who pocketed a Division 2 prize worth $9,814.85.

Thanks to local players support for the Megadraw; Lotterywest also raised almost $7 million for the WA community.

Meanwhile, Lotterywest is still waiting to hear from a Morley millionaire. The Division 1 Lotto ticket worth $1 million was sold at Carramar Lottery Centre and News in Morley in last night's Monday Lotto draw.
