Set for Life delivers 1st Prize winner, just ahead of $40 million jackpot
Australia has welcomed its first Set for Life 1st Prize winner!
The winning ticket was sold at Woonona Newsagency in New South Wales. The winner, a Wollongong father in his 40s, is the first in the nation to win the 1st Prize of $20,000 a month for 20 years.
Although Western Australia is still waiting for a 1st Prize winner, more than 26,000 local players have collected a prize since the first draw took place on Friday. These WA winners have shared in almost $315,000 worth of prize money.
Lotterywest retailer and owner of Nextra Forum West Newsagency in Mandurah, Jenny Cornish, said the game continues to create excitement amongst customers.
"I had one customer who was stoked that she already won her money back on the first draw but still had more chances to win on the same ticket. That's what everyone is really enjoying, that there are seven chances to win on just one ticket," Jenny said.
"We're seeing a lot of new players supporting the game and I think it's given Lotto a new lease in life. It's creating such a buzz."
Jenny said over the last week, staff in the shop had also been dressing up in outfits related to what they would do if they were 'Set for Life' and won 1st Prize.
"Some staff members have worn Hawaiian gear, while another dressed up as a fisherman as she would spend more time fishing," Jenny said.
Set for Life draws take place every night of the week, 365 days of the year. Draw close off is 7.00pm AWST. If won, there are up to four guaranteed 1st Prizes of $20,000 a month for 20 years in every Set for Life draw.
When you play Set for Life, you don't just play your SETS of numbers in a single draw, these numbers are played every day across seven consecutive draws. Players can also start their seven day Set for Life entry on any day and tickets start from just $8.40.
If choosing your own SET - you can easily save your favourite numbers on your Lotterywest Players Card or in Play Online.
Set for Life is the first new national lottery game launched in Australia since Powerball was introduced in 1996.
$40 million OZ Lotto offer tomorrow
There is only one sleep left until an incredible $40 million OZ Lotto jackpot goes on offer in tomorrow night's OZ Lotto draw.
The $40 million prize is the equal largest jackpot offered in OZ Lotto this year.
Lotterywest spokesperson Pina Compagnone said WA's tally of Division 1 Lotto winners for the year had reached 59 and was hoping tomorrow night might see this tally grow larger.
Tickets for the $40 million OZ Lotto jackpot are available until 6pm tomorrow from Lotterywest retailers, Play Online at lotterywest.wa.gov.au and the Lotterywest App.
It's not just WA winners that benefit following these jackpot rolls; over the six weeks of OZ Lotto's jackpot run, more than $5 million has been raised for the WA community. Tomorrow night is set to raise a further $2 million.
