Powerball powers to $70 million jackpot - highest in Australia this year!

5 November 2015

After no one in the nation had the Division 1 winning numbers in tonight's $50 million Powerball draw, the game has jackpotted once again to a record amount for this year.

This time it has powered to $70 million to make it the biggest Division 1 Lotto prize offered in Australia this year and the second largest in Powerball history.

Although there were no Division 1 winners in tonight's draw, 112,388 WA players have won prizes in other Divisions.

Ticket sales in the last five weeks of the Powerball jackpot run has also helped Lotterywest to raise $8 million for the WA community. It is expected that next week's jackpot draw will raise a further $6 million for the community.

Lotterywest spokesperson Pina Compagnone said the chance of the game jackpotting was an unlikely event.

"We're sure this draw will capture the imagination of Lotto players around the State as they participate in Australia's largest jackpot offer so far this year," she said.

Next week will present Lotto players with two chances to win big, starting on Tuesday night with OZ Lotto's $35 million jackpot and then on Thursday night with the $70 million Powerball jackpot.

Tickets for both jackpot draws are available in-store from Lotterywest retailers, online at www.lotterywest.wa.gov.au or by downloading the Lotterywest App.

Players are encouraged to play responsibly and spend only what they can afford. The cost of a ticket can be shared by joining with family, friends or work colleagues to form a syndicate.
