Perfect start to the New Year after WA player picks up Megadraw millions

3 January 2015

Western Australia has welcomed its first Division 1 Lotto winner for the year after a local player took home a $2,727,272 prize in tonight's $30 million Megadraw.

WA's winning ticket was sold in the State's south west at Australind News and Post.

The State's winner shared in the $30 million Division 1 prize pool with 10 others from around the nation.

Lotterywest spokesperson Pina Compagnone said it was a great result to see WA share in the multi-million dollar prize pool as there had been a lot of support by local players for the Megadraw.

"Tonight's winner kick starts our Division 1 winners tally for 2015! Whether they realise they have struck Lotto luck yet, I'm sure this big win will provide them with a great start to the New Year," she said.

Last year, WA produced 81 Division 1 Lotto winners who shared in almost $125 million worth of prizes. Ms Compagnone said tonight's result could see Lady Luck return to our State in 2015.

Lotterywest encourages all players who bought their ticket from Australind News and Post to check them as soon as possible for the winning numbers 39, 21, 18, 35, 38 and 43. The supplementary numbers were 13 and 27.

353,892 other WA players won a prize in tonight's Megadraw, including 45 people set to pocket a Division 2 prize worth $9,814.85.

Tonight's winners are not the only ones to benefit from the Megadraw; with players helping Lotterywest to raise an estimated $9 million to support the WA community.

Community groups to receive Lotterywest support include the Australind Senior High School Emergency Services Cadet Unit who were given a $ 14,754 Lotterywest Grant earlier this year to purchase equipment and help with transport costs.
