Padbury produces $5 million OZ Lotto winner

18 February 2015

One WA player has taken home the entire $5 million Division 1 prize pool in last night's OZ Lotto jackpot.

The ticket was the only Division 1 Lotto winner across the nation and was sold at Padbury News and Post.

The outlet is certainly no stranger to Lotto luck, selling a Powerball ticket worth $16 million in October last year.

Owner of Padbury News and Post Joe Kempster said he still couldn't believe the news but was unbelievably happy.

"Over 16 years of running the outlet we've had nine Division 1 Lotto wins; but two within four months at this value is just incredible," Mr Kempster said.

"After we sold the ticket worth $16 million, we had players visiting our store from other suburbs wanting a piece of our Lotto luck. Some customers joked that we wouldn't be able to do it again, but we have!"

Mr Kempster said excitement was already spreading far and wide, with customer's visiting the outlet first thing this morning to check if their ticket was the winner.

Last night's $5 million win is the largest Lotto prize won in WA so far this year and brings the State's 2015 tally of Division 1 winners to 15.

Lotterywest is still waiting to hear from WA's newest winner and encourages anyone who has purchased an OZ Lotto ticket from Padbury News and Post to check it for the winning numbers.

Last night's winning OZ Lotto numbers were 31, 38, 4, 30, 19, 25 and 2.

It wasn't just WA's multi-million dollar winner that benefited from last night's OZ Lotto draw; 33 cents of each dollar spent on lottery games in WA is directed back to support the local community.

Community events to receive Lotterywest funding include the City of Perth's Opera in the Park which takes place on 6 March at Perth's Supreme Court Gardens.

A Lotterywest Grant valued at $250,000 will help with production and management costs associated with the event which will be simulcast in Northbridge and to regional areas including Albany, Broome, Bunbury, Esperance, Geraldton, Kalgoorlie, Margaret River, Merredin and Port Hedland.
