OZ Lotto climbs to $40 million jackpot, as WA winners still roll up

5 August 2015

Although last night's OZ Lotto Division 1 prize was not won by anyone in Australia and jackpotted to a $40 million offer, two lucky Western Australians have each collected a Division 2 prize worth $24,010.

Both Division 2 tickets were sold in regional WA and purchased at Corrigin Newsagency and Kalgoorlie Newsagency.

Meanwhile, another two of WA's Division 1 winners from the weekend's Superdraw have come forward to each claim their $1.2 million win.

A retired couple from Baldivis claimed the Division 1 ticket sold at The Lucky Charm Baldivis.

The winner couldn't explain the feeling she had to buy two tickets in the Superdraw instead of her usual one, but said she was very pleased with her decision after striking lucky on the last line of the second ticket.

"I completely lost the plot and cried in the middle of the shopping centre when I found out I'd won," she said.

The couple said the news has 'completely blown them away' and are excited to have more choices available to them.

"Now we don't have to wait for our pension each week!" they said.

The next to claim their $1.2 million Superdraw prize was an Innaloo family who purchased their winning ticket from Harbour Lottery Centre and News in Hillary's.

"I've worked all my life and now I'll have something for my retirement. It's a very welcomed win," he said.

The family plan to visit relative's overseas, pay off their debts and children's car loans, and give their hard working staff a nice bonus.

Lotterywest is still waiting to hear from the owners of the Division 1 winning tickets sold at:

  • Newstime Lottery Centre in Perth
  • Midland Gate Lottery Kiosk
  • Newsextra Bentley News and Tobacconist

$40 million OZ Lotto jackpot

After six weeks of no-one in Australia being able to match the winning numbers for OZ Lotto, the game has jackpotted to $40 million.

If WA's recent winning streak is anything to go by, Lotterywest said it was hoping to welcome another big winner following the draw.

"We've welcomed 59 Division 1 local winners this year who have shared in almost $150 million, so let's hope the tally keeps on growing," said Lotterywest spokesperson Pina Compagnone.

Tickets for next Tuesday's $40 million OZ Lotto jackpot are available until 6pm on the day of the draw from Lotterywest retailers, Play Online at lotterywest.wa.gov.au or via the Lotterywest app.

It's not just WA winners that benefit following these jackpot rolls; over the six weeks of OZ Lotto's jackpot run, more than $5 million has been raised for the WA community. Next week's jackpot is set to raise a further $2 million.
