Million dollar Lotto win delivered to Gosnells family
A Gosnells family had more than Australia Day to celebrate this week after picking up a $1 million Division One prize in Wednesday night's Lotto draw.
The winning ticket was sold at West Gosnells Newsagency. It was the only Division One winner from across the nation, picking up the entire million dollar prize pool.
"I can't believe we can now call ourselves millionaires," the family said.
Paying off the family home and setting the children up for their future were top of the list for the family's big win. They also planned on having a celebration and sharing the good news with close family.
Owner of West Gosnells Newsagency Andy O'Leary said there had been a lot of excitement in the area following the Lotto win.
"We have just made someone a millionaire and that's the best feeling in the world," he said.
Meanwhile, Lottterywest has welcomed a number of other Western Australian Division One winners who have been rolling up to collect their Lotto prizes from earlier this month:
Icing on the cake for Pannawonica couple
A couple from Pannawonica have finally come forward to claim their $1 million Division One prize from a Monday Lotto draw held earlier this month (9 January).
The couple said they were prompted to check their ticket after word started to spread within the town that a $1 million ticket had been sold at their local retailer, Xpress Mart Pannawonica.
The man said after going online at work to find out the winning numbers, he rang his wife so she could check their tickets.
"We couldn't sleep for the first few days after finding out the exciting news. This is just the icing on the cake for us," the couple said.
The couple said on the top of their list was paying off their mortgage and helping out immediate family. After that, the couple said they would sit back, relax and invest the rest of the money for their retirement years.
The couple struck it lucky on Lotto by playing their own numbers which they have been playing for last 15 years. Their $1 million win follows a run of past Lotto luck including a $72,000 Lotto win 10 years ago.
Cannington couple giggle after collecting $695,979 Lotto win
Jetting off to visit family overseas and buying a new house with a swimming pool is on the list for a young Cannington couple who have come forward to collect their $695,979 Division One prize from last Saturday's Lotto draw (21 January).
The young couple, who purchased their ticket from Media Lottery Centre and News in Cannington, said a spur of the moment decision to buy their winning Lotto ticket while shopping led them to their big Lotto win.
They originally thought they had won just over $8,000, but after checking the ticket a second time realised they had pocketed a much bigger prize.
"We just kept letting out these silly giggles, we couldn't believe it. This just makes our lives so much easier and gives us so many more options," the couple said.
Lotto bonus delivered to Hamilton Hill man
A man from Hamilton Hill has also made his way to Lotterywest to collect his $423,705 Division One Saturday Lotto prize from the 14 January draw.
The man said one of his main reasons for playing Lotto was because of the support Lotterywest made to the Western Australian community, describing his Division One win as a 'bonus'.
While the man was undecided about what he would do with his Lotto prize, he said he had already ventured out and bought two new chickens for his backyard to celebrate.
The man won on a Slikpik 50 ticket which he purchased from Kardinya Park Newsagency.
Western Australia's tally of Division One winners for this month has now reached eight. These winners have shared in $5.8 million worth of prize money.
It's not just local Lotto winners that benefit from lottery games in Western Australia, so does the entire local community with 34 cents in every dollar delivered back to hospitals, sports and arts groups and thousands of not-for-profit groups across the State.
Last year, the Kulungah-Myah Family Centre located in Kardinya benefited from a $14,528 Lotterywest Grant to upgrade its equipment which is used by families in the area.
