Million dollar Lotto luck strikes Ballajura twice just ahead of bumper jackpot week

25 May 2015

Only one week after a million dollar ticket was sold at Ballajura in last Saturday's Lotto draw, Lotto luck has returned to the suburb a second time delivering a winning ticket worth $1,021,747 in the weekend's Saturday Lotto draw.

Both winning tickets were sold at Ballajura City Lottery Centre and Post Office.

Owner Len Hendricks who has owned the outlet for the last 25 years said it's always been a lucky outlet.

"We usually sell a big winner every two years, but we've never had two within a week so this is certainly creating a lot excitement amongst our customers," he said.

"They say things come in threes so I have a strong feeling that another one might be just around the corner and what great timing with two big jackpot prizes this week."

Biggest jackpot week this year - $80 million on offer

This year's biggest offer of jackpots in a week will go up for grabs with a combined $80 million on offer. It will include a $30 million OZ Lotto jackpot tomorrow night, followed by a $50 million Powerball jackpot on Thursday.

With WA's tally of Division 1 Lotto winners for the year now at 35, Lotterywest is hoping this list will grow even larger by the end of the week.

"Our largest Lotto win for the year was a $5 million win in OZ Lotto in February, but this could all change following this week's multi-million prize offers," said Lotterywest spokesperson Pina Compagnone.

Tickets for both jackpot draws are available from Lotterywest retailers or Play Online at

In addition to the thousands of WA winners expected from both jackpots; an estimated $5 million is also expected to be raised for the local community.

Community groups to benefit from this funding include the Dungeon Youth Centre located in Ballajura who were given a $10,000 Lotterywest grant last year to help community members experiencing financial hardship.
