Lotto luck strikes Geraldton twice in three weeks!

3 September 2015

Only three weeks after the Mid-West town of Geraldton sold a $10 million Powerball prize, the same lottery outlet has struck Division 1 Lotto luck once again.

Geraldton Lottery Centre sold the only Division 1 winning ticket across the nation in last night’s Wednesday Lotto draw - the prize is worth $1 million.

Owner of the store Rochelle Vorster said she was still in shock but that the news was incredible.

“We’re only a small kiosk so to sell the only Division 1 winning ticket across Australia in two draws like this is just fantastic. It must be our positive energy and vibes,” she said.

Mrs Vorster said it was uplifting news for the Geraldton community.

“News is starting to spread of the second win and people are delighted. We’re now hoping for a hat trick,” she said.

Last night’s million dollar WA win may be a sign of good things to come in this weekend’s $21 million Saturday Lotto Superdraw.

Lotterywest spokesperson Pina Compagnone said WA’s Division 1 Lotto winners tally for the year had grown to 67 and this had included a large proportion of Superdraw winners.

“We had eight WA players pick up a $1.2 million prize in last month’s Superdraw and four $1 million winners in the one before that, so here’s hoping we strike it lucky in this one!” she said.

WA players have until 6pm this Saturday to purchase their Superdraw tickets from Lotterywest retailers, at Play Online at or through the Lotterywest App.

While thousands of WA players are expected to win a prize in this Saturday’s Superdraw, Lotterywest also expects to raise close to $4.5 million for the WA community.

Groups to receive this support include the Geraldton Resource Centre who were given a $80,000 Lotterywest Grant last year to help local community members experiencing financial hardship.
