Lotto luck returns to Bassendean!

1 December 2014

Lotto luck in Western Australia has travelled to Bassendean following a Division 1 Lotto ticket worth $2.1 million sold there in the weekend's Saturday Lotto draw.

The winning ticket was sold at Swan Lotteries Kiosk. Owner of the kiosk Bill Bui said it was just over a year ago that they last sold a Division 1 Lotto ticket.

"We sold a ticket worth a million dollars in October last year and now luck has returned again! I had a feeling that we would sell another big winner and we did," he said.

"It's wonderful news. Everyone is so happy with huge smiles on their faces."

WA's weekend winning ticket brings the tally of local Division 1 Lotto winners this year to 77. These winners have shared in prizes worth $123 million.

Lotterywest is still waiting to hear from the State's newest multi-millionaire.

Would you like to share in a $30 million New Year bonus?

As we countdown to Christmas and the New Year, Lotterywest is also counting down to one of the biggest draws of the year, the $30 million Megadraw on Saturday 3 January 2015.

And, if this year is anything to go by, joining with workmates, family or friends to form a syndicate in the draw may give players a good chance of winning the big one.

Lotterywest spokesperson Pina Compagnone said this year had proved a very popular year for Division 1 syndicate winners.

"We have had lots of memorable syndicate winners enter the Lotterywest Winners' Room who have said the best part of their win was sharing it with colleagues and friends," Ms Compagnone said.

"By playing as a syndicate, players can also share the cost of a Lotto ticket."

One of this year's most memorable syndicate wins included six Perth city office workers who shared in a $1.1 million Lotto win just before being made redundant.

The syndicate, who each took home $184,210, said the win came at the perfect time, giving them financial security after their employment at the company came to an end.

"Our contracts finish in a few months so this win provides us with peace of mind and takes the pressure off," one syndicate member said.

Lotterywest is reminding Lotto players around the State to get their syndicates together before heading off on Christmas leave. Tickets are available for the Megadraw from Lotterywest retailers or Play Online at www.lotterywest.wa.gov.au until 6pm on Saturday 3 January 2015.

Lotto winners are not the only ones set to benefit from the $30 million Megadraw with $9 million expected to be raised from the draw to benefit Western Australian health, sports, the arts and thousands of charitable and community organisations.
