Lotto fever with combined $80 million prize offers spanning three days
It’s set to be an exciting few days in WA with two major Lotto draws offering a combined $80 million worth of Division 1 prizes over the next three days.
It all starts tonight when an incredible $50 million Powerball jackpot will go up for grabs – the equal second largest jackpot the game has offered in Australia this year.
The Division 1 prize pool is the result of no one across Australia being able to match the game’s six winning numbers plus the Powerball for the last six weeks.
Lotterywest spokesperson Pina Compagnone said excitement and anticipation was surrounding the State with the possibility of welcoming WA’s 100th Division 1 Lotto winner on New Year’s Eve.
“We’ve had a record breaking year of Lotto winners here in WA and if luck continues tonight we could be looking at the State’s Division 1 winners tally reaching 100 just before the year ends,” Ms Compagnone said.
So far this year, WA has produced 99 Division 1 Lotto winners who have shared in $263 million worth of prizes.
Ms Compagnone said there had been some memorable moments across the year including two $30 million OZ Lotto wins, one just last week and the other in May, as well as a $50 million Powerball win in July.
Ms Compagnone said tonight’s jackpot was proving extremely popular amongst WA Lotto players, with an estimated 600,000 tickets set to be sold in WA.
“During our busiest hour today, we anticipate 760 tickets to be churning out of Lotterywest terminals each minute,” she said.
The Lotto excitement won’t end tonight with the $30 million Saturday Lotto Megadraw taking place on Saturday (2 January 2016).
Ms Compagnone said the annual Megadraw is the biggest Saturday Lotto event of the year.
“With more than 350,000 WA winners sharing in $10 million worth of prizes in the last Megadraw, Lotterywest is hoping to welcome thousands more winners following Saturday night’s draw,” she said.
WA players have until 6pm today to purchase Powerball tickets and 6pm on Saturday to pick up their Megadraw tickets which are available in-store from Lotterywest retailers, through Play Online and the Lotterywest App.
It’s not just Lotto winners that are set to benefit following these draws, with Lotterywest expected to raise a combined $20 million from both the Megadraw and Powerball’s six week jackpot roll.
