Lotterywest proudly supporting diverse Perth Festival
As the principal partner of the Perth International Arts Festival, Lotterywest will once again support some of the greatest international artistic experiences being held during this year’s 63rd Festival.
Lotterywest has been the principal partner of the Festival, the longest-running annual multi-arts celebration in the Southern Hemisphere, for more than 20 years.
Lotterywest, alongside the State Government, Department of Culture and the Arts and Tourism WA, will support the Festival’s headline act The Giants - a significant free event commemorating the ANZAC Centenary where two Giants will take us on a journey around the streets of Perth over three days.
Lotterywest Chairman John Atkins said a key part of Lotterywest’s involvement was supporting the effort of more than 500 registered volunteers on the ground during the Festival.
“This Festival is a chance to encourage the Western Australian community to participate in a wide range of experiences. Whether that participation is as a volunteer, spectator or artist, its one way we are building a better Western Australia,” he said.
This year’s Festival received a Lotterywest grant of $7.3 million. Additional grant support of $250,000 was also provided for The Giants.
While Lotterywest support will be directed broadly towards access and performance costs associated with the Festival, it has particularly enabled the growth of the Festival’s Vital Stages program.
“Now in its fourth year, Vital Stages is a key initiative which gives our local artists the opportunity to work alongside international artists and provide them access to professional development through attending workshops, master classes and the creation of new work,” Mr Atkins said.
Lotterywest is also a proud supporter of the Lotterywest Festival Films on the outdoor screens at Somerville (UWA) and Joondalup Pines (ECU).
Lotterywest’s contribution to the Perth International Arts Festival is only made possible thanks to the players purchasing Lotterywest games; with 33 cents of every dollar spent on games directed to support the Western Australian community.
Local players can continue to support Lotterywest and the range of community services and activities it makes possible, by participating in the $20 million Saturday Lotto Superdraw taking place on 14 February.
Tickets for the Superdraw are available from Lotterywest retailers or at Play Online at lotterywest.a.gov.au
