Lady Luck continues to shine over WA after Geraldton takes home entire $10 million Powerball prize
It looks like this could be the 'golden' year for Western Australian Division 1 Lotto winners after a local player collected the entire $10 million prize pool in tonight's Powerball draw.
The winning ticket was sold at Geraldton Lottery Centre.
Tonight's win comes only three weeks after WA welcomed a $50 million Powerball winner which rewrote the history books as the largest in the State.
Lotterywest spokesperson Pina Compagnone said there had been an incredible run of luck in WA this year.
"What a fantastic year 2015 it's shaping up to be for local Lotto players. The tally of Division 1 winners has now reached 61 and they've shared in almost $160 million worth of prize money," Ms Compagnone said.
WA's tally has included some memorable amounts such as the $50 million Powerball prize last month, the $30 million OZ Lotto win in May and a $5 million OZ Lotto winner from February.
"It looks like Lady Luck is here to stay. Let's hope it continues next week when we see the largest Lotto prize offered this year, the $60 million OZ Lotto jackpot," she said.
The $60 million OZ Lotto jackpot is the result of no one across Australia being able to match the game's seven winning numbers for the last six weeks. Tickets for the draw can be purchased from Lotterywest retailers or Play Online at lotterywest.wa.gov.au or via the Lotterywest App.
A further 36,448 WA players picked up a Powerball prize tonight in the other Divisions.
It's not just the winners that benefit from these draws, so does the WA community with 33 cents of each dollar spent on draws going back to support the local community.
Last year, the Geraldton Regional Community Education Centre Association was given a $82,130 Lotterywest Grant to purchase a vehicle which helps deliver community services for children and families in Geraldton.
