Gut feeling turned into $1.2M for WA Lotto Superdraw winner

21 May 2015

It's been nearly two weeks since the $21 million Saturday Lotto Superdraw on 9 May and Lotterywest had only met three out of WA's five Division 1 winners.

Today Lotterywest ticked off the fourth with a woman from the Kimberley taking her rightful place in the Winners Room to collect her $1,235,294 prize.

The mother said she knew she was going to win Division 1 when she was buying the ticket from Tuckerbox Stores in Kununurra and was even planning her travels to Lotterywest's Head Office as she handed over money to pay for her ticket.

"I was in shock when I checked my ticket and knew my gut feeling was right. I'm still speechless," said the woman.

The regular Lotto player plans to invest her new fortune and plan for her children's futures. A family holiday is also on the horizon.

"We've been waiting for this moment, I'm very happy," said the woman.

The winner hopes that luck will still be surrounding her and her family when she tries for Division 1 again in tonight's $30 million Powerball jackpot.

It's not just WA's Division 1 winners that have something to celebrate following a Lotto win; so does the WA community with 33 cents of every dollar spent on lottery games in WA going back to support the local community.

A Kimberley community group who received a recent Lotterywest Grant was the Ewin Centre Children Services Inc. who received $29,771 last month towards upgrade costs to enhance play and early development opportunities for children in Kununurra.
