Fremantle couple scoop $1 million Lotto win on last line of ticket
Newsextra Bentley News Tobacconist has only had their store for six months and has already made a Fremantle couple Lotto millionaires.
The winner of last night's Wednesday Lotto draw, who was the only Division 1 winner in the country, said he had a lucky feeling on the day he purchased his ticket.
"I told my wife I thought I was the WA winner even though I hadn't checked my ticket at that point. I must be psychic as well as lucky," said the man.
The man only checked the $1 million winning ticket this morning, almost giving up on the thought of a prize until he saw six winning numbers on one of the last lines.
"I'll never forget those magic numbers; they're stuck in my head. I'm ecstatic and doing somersaults inside!" said the Fremantle resident.
The couple plan to announce their wonderful news to their children over dinner soon.
"I might arrange for a limo to pick everyone up so we can dine in style for the night," he said.
The regular Lotto players already have their Lotto dreams planned out including sharing some of the prize with their children, having extra spending money on their upcoming overseas holiday, an interstate trip with their family and an early retirement.
"The overseas holiday was originally the gift for my diamond mad wife's milestone birthday, but now I can get her another rock. She'll be over the moon," he said.
$30 million Powerball jackpot on offer tonight!
Not only will a $30 million Powerball jackpot go on offer tonight, the draw will also mark the 1,000th draw milestone for the game.
Launched in 1996, Powerball first broke records in 2001 when a WA local couple picked up the largest ever Lotto prize won in WA - a $30 million Powerball prize.
Lotterywest spokesperson Pina Compagnone said since then, three more local players have taken home the $30 million prize, which remains the equal largest Lotto prize ever won in the State.
"Fingers crossed, WA can do it again tonight and add to the 46 WA players who have already struck Division 1 luck this year," she said.
Local players have until 6pm tonight to pick up their ticket in tonight's jackpot. Tickets can be purchased from Lotterywest retailers or from Lotterywest Play Online at www.lotterywest.wa.gov.au
Since 1996, support for Powerball has helped Lotterywest to raise $627 million for the WA community. Tonight's jackpot is set to raise a further $2 million.
