First class all the way for WA's newest Lotto winners
Two of Western Australia's weekend Lotto winners have wasted no time coming forward to each collect their $1.1 million Division One prize from the weekend's $20 million Saturday Lotto Superdraw.
First to visit Lotterywest's 'exclusive' winners room was a Maddington man who purchased his ticket from Winners Circle Lottery Centre in Cloverdale. The man said the ticket was the third one he'd ever bought.
"It was a spur of the moment decision to buy the ticket on the day of the draw. I saw the posters up with the $20 million on it and thought you got to be in it to win it!" he said.
On the Lotto dream list for the Maddington man was a brand new car with all the trimmings including leather seats and a sun roof. A cruise around the world and a trip to New Zealand were also plans the man could now make a reality.
"It's first class all the way from here on in," the man said.
Following close behind to pick up their $1.1 million prize was a married couple from Perth's southern suburbs.
The man said he heard the winning numbers on the radio while carrying out some domestic duties. He said it was actually while cleaning the toilet that he recognised the winning numbers and thought 'that's me'.
Unable to get much sleep since realising he had struck Division One Lotto luck, the man said sharing the money with his close family was on the top of his list before buying his dream retirement home.
"It won't be anything to elaborate, just something simple that I really like," he said.
The couple purchased their ticket from Palmyra Supa News and won on their own numbers which they had been playing for the last 16 years.
The weekend Superdraw delivered three Division One Lotto winners from Western Australia, with Lotterywest still waiting to hear from the winning ticket sold at Forum Newsagency in Floreat.
The weekend's Lotto winners were not the only ones to have something to smile about after Saturday's Superdraw, so was the entire local community with 34 cents in every dollar players spent on the draw being delivered to Western Australian's in need.
This year, the City of Belmont received a $19,992 Lotterywest Grant to help support costs associated with the 2012 Kidz Fest and Junior Sports Expo which will be held at Cloverdale's Faulkner Park on 25 February.
