Double dose of Lotto luck strikes WA

13 April 2015

WA has welcomed two new Division 1 Lotto winners from the weekend's Saturday Lotto draw - each winner will take home a $316,393 prize.

The State's winning tickets were sold at Doric Street Newsagency in Scarborough and Shepherds Newsagency in Fremantle.

It's the second Division 1 Lotto ticket sold at the Fremantle outlet in a week, following a ticket worth $525,190 in last weekend's Saturday Lotto draw.

Owner of Shepherds Newsagency Tom Dore said he was stoked about the result.

"We've had this outlet for 24 years and didn't have any Division 1 Lotto winners for the first 20 years. Now we've had seven in four years. It's an amazing result," he said.

Mr Dore said the news about the win was spreading fast with lots of anxious customers checking their tickets in-store.

While Lotterywest is still waiting to hear from the Shepherds Newsagency winner, a young family from Perth's northern suburbs has claimed the winning ticket sold at Doric Street Newsagency.

"This is just incredible timing. It's been tough trying to work out finances recently around how we could afford upgrading to a bigger house for our young family," said the Dad.

"This win is going to change a lot of things for us and we are feeling very positive about our future."

The family had been playing the same numbers for the last two years which were based on family birthdays.

$40 million jackpot on offer

WA Lotto players will have the chance to play for the biggest jackpot offered in Australia this year with the OZ Lotto $40 million jackpot tomorrow night.

Lotterywest spokesperson Pina Compagnone said if this year's track record was anything to go by, we may just see our State strike lucky again.

"WA's tally of Division 1 Lotto winners for the year has now reached 25. It was only in February that one local player picked up a $5 million OZ Lotto prize so let's hope history repeats itself tomorrow night," she said.

Tickets for the jackpot are available until 6pm tomorrow and can be purchased from Lotterywest retailers or Play Online at

It's not just local winners that benefit following a Lotto draw, with 33 cents of every dollar spent on draws returned to support the WA community.

Community groups to receive this support include the City of Fremantle who were given a $60,000 Lotterywest Grant last year to support community members experiencing financial hardship.
