Double act of Lotto luck strikes WA just days before $20 million Superdraw

9 February 2015

Our run of luck for this weekend's $20 million Saturday Lotto Superdraw is looking very good for Western Australia after two locals took home Division 1 prizes, each worth $608,243, in Saturday night's Lotto draw.

WA's winning tickets were sold at The Lucky Charm Ellenbrook and Causeway Newsagency in Victoria Park. For each of the owners, it was the second Division 1 Lotto ticket they'd sold at their outlets.

Owner of Causeway Newsagency Than Phan said he had been running his outlet for more than 10 years and it had been a long time since he had last sold a Division 1 Lotto winner.

"We think it might be our new location that has bought us luck. We moved here two years ago and we have all been saying we need a big win to put us on the map. Now we're on it!" he said.

Meanwhile Jackie Morabito from The Lucky Charm Ellenbrook said word of their Division 1 Lotto win was spreading very quickly amongst the locals.

"We've had quite a few excited people coming in to check their tickets. Our positivity has certainly paid off. We're always telling our customers it will happen- we will have a win and now we have," she said.

WA's Division 1 Lotto winners tally for the year has now reached 12. These winners have shared in prizes worth more than $14 million.

Lotterywest is still waiting to hear from WA's newest Division 1 Lotto winners.

Countdown to the $20 million Superdraw

There are only days to go until an incredible $20 million Division 1 prize pool goes on offer in the weekend's Saturday Lotto Superdraw.

Lotterywest spokesperson Pina Compagnone said a ticket in the Superdraw could be the 'perfect' way to spoil your loved one this Valentine's Day.

"We've had a few love stories shared in our Winners Room. A few years ago a young couple in their 20s used some of their $739,713 Lotto prize to finally get married after being engaged for more than seven years," she said.

Superdraw tickets can be purchased from Lotterywest retailers across WA or from Play Online at until 6pm Saturday.

It's not just thousands of winners that are set to benefit from the Superdraw, with 33 cents of every dollar spent on the draw being directed to support the WA community.

Lotterywest support is directed to community events like the Perth International Arts Festival and their headline act, The Giants - a significant free event commemorating the ANZAC Centenary where two Giants will take us on a journey around the streets of Perth over three days from 13-15 February.

Lotterywest thanks over 500 registered volunteers who have got involved to bring The Giants to life in Western Australia.
