Cannington creates Monday millionaire just ahead of $40 million Powerball jackpot

7 October 2014

WA's week has started on a high with someone taking home a $1 million prize in last night's Monday Lotto draw. The winning ticket was sold at Media Lottery Centre & News in Cannington.

Owner of the outlet Tan Phan said this was the third Division 1 Lotto winner his outlet had produced in six years.

"I have customers coming in almost every second week to collect a Division 2 prize but I'm very excited that we have had another Division 1 win! I'm so happy for my customers who are very supportive and keep coming back whether they win or lose," he said.

Mr Phan said last night's win was a sign of good things to come in this Thursday's $40 million Powerball jackpot.

"We have done it once this week; there is no reason why we can't do it again. The key is staying very positive."

WA's tally of Division 1 Lotto winners this year has reached 68. These winners have shared in almost $100 million worth of prizes.

Your chance to be added to this exclusive winners list could be in this Thursday's $40 million Powerball jackpot.

The multi-million offer is the result of no one across the nation being able to match Powerball's winning numbers for the past five weeks.

Tickets for the Powerball jackpot are available until 6pm on Thursday from Lotterywest retailers or Play Online at

It's not just local winners that have something to celebrate following a Lotto draw, with Lotterywest directing 33 cents of every dollar to supporting the WA community.

Local community groups to receive this funding include Communicare located in Cannington which were given a $137,500 Lotterywest Grant this year to help them support local people experiencing financial hardship.
