Birds have room to stretch their wings after South West couple claim Lotto win

21 December 2015

Today wasn’t just a leisurely drive up to Perth for a Gelorup couple; they came to Lotterywest Head Office to collect their $664,754 Division 1 Saturday Lotto prize from the draw on 5 December.

Although the woman said she’d always had an inkling she would win Lotto one day, when that day arrived she checked the ticket at least 40 times despite having played the same numbers for the past 18 months.

“You won’t believe how surreal it feels when you actually see those six winning numbers on your own ticket!” she said.

“When I phoned my husband to tell him our great news I couldn’t get the words out.”

The couple said their Lotto fortune won’t change them and there will be no grand purchases of posh cars and fancy houses.

“We could buy that stuff now if we wanted to but we don’t see the point, we’re happy with what we already have and think that helping people is more important,” said the couple.

They have plans to travel business class to visit family overseas, help their loved ones and put money away for their retirement.

“When that day comes we hope to buy a caravan and go fishing,” they said.

The couple’s much loved animals will also be spoilt, with their birds receiving a much bigger aviary for them to stretch their wings.

The latest winners from Gelorup plan to be back in the Winners Room again soon and hope to ring in the New Year with another Saturday Lotto win in the Megadraw.

“If you don’t buy a ticket, you have no chance to win. Just look at us, dreams really do come true!” said the regular players.

Still time to fill your Christmas stockings with Lotterywest Games

Western Australians still have plenty of time to get their hands on the ultimate last minute stocking filler – a ticket in the upcoming Megadraw when an incredible $30 million Division 1 prize goes on offer.

There’s also a range of Christmas themed Scratch’n’Win tickets to suit your budget including $1, $2, $3, $5 and $20 price points.

Players can mix and match both Lotto and Scratch’n’Win tickets for an easy, fun and convenient gift this Christmas.

Not only do winners benefit from playing Lotterywest Games, so does the local community with 34 cents of every dollar spent on our games returned to support the WA community.

The Newton Moore Senior High School Bush Ranger Cadets in Bunbury received this support in the form of an $8,702 Lotterywest Grant in November. These funds will be used towards equipment and transport costs to support young people involved in the Bush Ranger cadets in Bunbury.

To all Western Australian Lotto players,
Lotterywest wishes you all a very Merry Christmas and the very best of luck for the $30 million Megadraw on 2 January 2016.
