A bad day turns into $1 million for Bassendean family while $80M jackpot week approaches

22 May 2015

So far, 34 WA Lotto players have won themselves Division 1 prizes this year sharing in over $42 million.

Lucky number 34 on the Division 1 winners list was a family from Bassendean who collected $1,000,000 from Wednesday Lotto's Double Win Day this week.

Inside the Winners Room the man shared that he was having a terrible day before he tried his luck and bought his Wednesday Lotto ticket from Springs News in Beechboro but thinks the win has made up for it.

"I can't believe it, I'm feeling sick I'm so nervous and there's a knot in my stomach!" said the new millionaire.

The family said the win will make their lives easier and pave the way to paying off their mortgage and getting the two new cars they need.

"I've never had this much money before!" said the father.

If 2015's history is anything to go by, WA has a good chance of Lotto luck surrounding our State for next week's $80 million jackpot week.

Powerball and OZ Lotto jackpots tally to $80 million next week

OZ Lotto and Powerball have jackpotted their way up to make next week the biggest offer of jackpots this year.

A massive $80 million is up for grabs with the OZ Lotto jackpot at $30 million on Tuesday night and Powerball offering a $50 million jackpot on Thursday night.

Purchase your tickets by 6pm on the night of the draw from Lotterywest retailers across the State or from Play Online at www.lotterywest.wa.gov.au

The entire Western Australian community are able to celebrate jackpots as funds raised from the draws go to support the WA community.

Local community organisations to receive this support include Carewest Association of Community Based Children's Services (WA) Inc. in Bassendean. This group received a $13,995 Lotterywest Grant last month towards publishing resource materials that will assist in developing best practise learning environments for children ages 0-5 years old.

Lotterywest promotes responsible play and encourages all players to only spend what they can afford. For further information visit www.gamblinghelponline.org.au
