WA scores Division One in Soccer Pools

As Australia currently leads the gold medal tally at this year's Commonwealth Games, Western Australia has scored its own win with a local player scooping a Division One prize of over $58,000 in Saturday night's Soccer Pools draw.

The winning ticket was purchased at the Strand Lottery Centre in Dianella.

Owner of the Strand Lottery Centre Noel Horskins, said this was his outlet's second Soccer Pools Division One prize.

"The good news has generated some excitement amongst customers this morning," he said.

"We had a win about three years ago and this was followed by a Saturday Lotto Division One prize three weeks later. I hope this happens again. It could be the start of a winning streak for the store."

It is Western Australia's second 2010 Division One Soccer Pools win. Last night's fortune follows a Division One Soccer Pools prize of over $590,000 that was scooped in April by a Perth man in his 40s.

33 cents in every dollar spent on Soccer Pools goes directly back to the Western Australian community including health, sports, the arts and a number of not-for-profit organisations.
