State's South West proves Lotto hot spot

Following the excitement of last night's MasterChef finale and the great debate for the upcoming national election, Western Australia's South West region has experienced its own excitement selling another Saturday Lotto Division One winning ticket.

The winning ticket, purchased at Reid's Plaza Newsagency in Bunbury, makes it the sixth Division One winning Lotto ticket sold in the South West area this year.

Saturday's win follows a $1 million Division One ticket sold in the neighbouring town of Eaton in last weekend's $20 million Saturday Lotto Superdraw, and a $444,444 Division One ticket sold in Bunbury in a June Saturday Lotto draw.

"It seems the state's South West is on a Lotto winning streak this year, averaging one Division One win a month," said Lotterywest spokesperson Pina Compagnone.

"With six Division One wins totalling more than $4 million so far this year, we hope to see this trend continue."

So far this year, a total of 44 Western Australians have shared in almost $75.5 million in Division One prize money.

Lotto winners are not the only ones who benefit from Lotterywest games; 33 cents in every dollar spent is returned to Western Australian health, sports, the arts and a large number of charitable and community organisations.

This year, the Bunbury Community and Child Care Association benefited from a $10,000 Lotterywest grant for equipment and support services for families in Bunbury and surrounding areas.
