Lotto winners score $666,666 end of financial year tax free bonus
In the lead up to the OZ Lotto $50 million jackpot on Tuesday evening and the end of the financial year looming, a northern suburbs couple have come forward to claim their $666,666 Division One win from Saturday's Lotto draw.
The regular Lotto players purchased their winning ticket from Princess Road News and Lotto in Balga, and said the winnings will go towards making them debt free.
"I heard the excitement from the loungeroom and there was a lot of yelling," he said.
"It is a huge weight off our shoulders, the debt has just gone," she said.
The couple said that it didn't feel real until they were sitting in the Lotterywest winners room and will celebrate when the debt has finally gone.
The excitement continues as Lotterywest is giving Western Australians an opportunity to boost their bank balances with a $50 million jackpot on offer in Tuesday night's OZ Lotto draw.
"Retailers around the state are reporting strong sales as the jackpot breaks the 2010 record," said Lotterywest spokesperson Sherrilee Kingston.
Lotterywest hopes to finish the financial year on a high meeting another local winner!
Tickets for the OZ Lotto draw are on sale at Lotterywest retailers around the state until 6pm on Tuesday.
Winners are not the only ones who benefit from Lotterywest games; 32 cents in every dollar spent is returned to Western Australian health, sports, the arts and a large number of charitable and community organisations.
