Retired Noranda couple celebrate seriously good news

A retired couple from Noranda have finally come forward to claim their Saturday Lotto $500,000 Division One prize from 1 May.

The couple shared tears of joy in the Lotterywest winners room as they described their Division One win as seriously good news.

"As well as feeling very pleased and thankful, I also felt relief as the prize money will help me to continue looking after my number one lady, my wife," the man said.

"When I first told her I had good news she asked if we had won Lotto but she just thought it was Division Two or Three.

"When I told her we had actually won Division One, she started jumping and simply couldn't believe it."

The couple, who have been playing Lotto for the last 25 years, purchased their winning Slikpik 12 ticket from The Lucky Charm News in Noranda.

They were one of three state winners in the May draw and are the last from this group of three to claim their prize.

"We can now pay off our mortgage and go overseas to see family we have not seen in six years," the woman said.

"We will also share some of the winnings to help our immediate family, as well as make a donation to a local charity."

The couple said winning this Division One prize was an just an added bonus because they were happy to know money raised from buying Lotto products was being returned to the Western Australian community.

32 cents of every dollar spent on Lotterywest games is returned to support Western Australian arts, sports, health and a large number of charitable and community organisations.
