Greenwood win, no April Fools!

A couple in their 50's from Greenwood have finally come forward to claim their Saturday Lotto prize of $444,444 from February.

The couple said after a few attempts to redeem the ticket, they finally realised they were Division One winners on April Fools day.

"We buy Lotto tickets regularly and then collect a number of tickets which we check all at once," the woman said.

"I actually had the ticket in my handbag for quite a while, but every time I went to the newsagency to get the ticket checked it was quite busy.

"When my partner finally bought the ticket to get checked last Thursday and rang me to say we had won Lotto, I thought it was an April Fools joke and asked him to put a staff member on the phone from the newsagent to verify the news.

"I did a crazy scream and then danced around the lounge room."

The couple purchased their winning Slikpik 25 ticket from the Greenwood Lottery Centre & Newsagency for the Saturday Lotto draw on 6 February.

The couple said the prize money would help with restorations on their house, retirement plans and a donation to the Australian Cancer Research Foundation.

32 cents of every dollar spent on Lotterywest games is returned to support Western Australian arts, sports, health and a large number of charitable and community organisations.

Last year the Greenwood Toy Library benefited from a $14,000 Lotterywest grant to upgrade toys and resources.

Don't miss your chance to win a prize this week, with $10 million up for grabs in tonight's Powerball jackpot.

Tickets are available from all Lotterywest retailers around the state until 5pm.

April is Lotterywest Syndicates month

With the recent launch of Lotterywest Syndicates, Lotterywest shares a special syndicate moment.

It was around the same time two years ago that a syndicate of four country blokes scooped a Saturday Lotto Division One prize of $666,666.

The win was big news from the tiny town of Leeman which only has a population of 600 people.

One group plan for the winnings was a get-a-way for the syndicate members to El Questro, a luxury homestead in the state's Kimberly region.

Lotterywest Syndicates are available for Monday, Wednesday and Saturday Lotto as well as OZ Lotto, Powerball and Soccer Pools at your local Lotterywest retailer.

Simply visit www.lotterywest.wa.gov.au or ask your local retailer for more information about Lotterywest Syndicates.
