How do you play Lotto?

Playing Lotto is easy and there are two ways players can get their tickets. One way is by completing a playslip with the player’s own choice of numbers, the second is by requesting the retailer for computer generated tickets known as Slikpiks.  For more information on our games visit:

How long do I have to claim a lottery prize? Do the tickets expire?

Under the Lotteries Commission Act, all tickets expire 12 months from when the draw takes place. The proceeds of any unclaimed prizes are then distributed to charitable and community groups as the Act requires.

OZ Lotto jackpotted to $90 million in June 2009.

What is the largest Division One prize ever paid out to a Western Australian winner?

$30 million has been won twice in WA. In October 2007 an OZ Lotto ticket sold at Waterford Lottery Centre in Karawara won $30 million, and in January 2001 a Powerball ticket sold at Southlands Newsagency in Willetton also won $30 million.

Who can apply for a Lotterywest grant?

The Lotteries Commission Act outlines eligiblity for Lotterywest Grants. They can be made only to not for profit organisations and Local Government authorities for purposes which are ‘charitable or benevolent’. Grants cannot be made to individuals, private or for profit organisations or to any government organisations or instrumentality. We encourage applicants to call us to discuss the eligibility of their organisation and to share their ideas. We are happy to explore how we may be able to provide support.

How much money does Lotterywest raise for the Western Australian community?

From every $1 spent on Lotterywest products, 33 cents is raised for the Western Australian community.

How much money in total did Lotterywest give to its beneficiaries last financial year (2009/10)?

$234.8 million.

How much did Lotterywest distribute to health, recreation and culture and the arts last financial year (2009/10)?

$103.8 million was returned to health, $13 million to sports and recreation and $13 million to culture and the arts.

How much did Lotterywest distribute directly to community and charitable organisations last financial year and how many organisations received grants?

1,465 grants totalling $105 million were approved to 1,148 different organisations.
