2017 Avon Descent

Saturday 5 August – Sunday 6 August 2017

The 45th Avon Descent is an annual event and takes place on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 of August 2017. Competitors from around the world take on 124 grueling kilometres of white water and marathon flats in a two day time trial in both paddle and power craft. Spectators can enjoy action on the water from riverbank events with race commentary, free entertainment and much more to be found at the Avon Descent Family Fun Days in Northam, Toodyay, Belmont and Bayswater.

Nannup Flower and Garden Festival

Thursday 17 August – Sunday 20 August 2017

Be inspired and delighted as you wander around at the Nannup Flower & Garden Festival, a celebration of the iconic Nannup winter flowers. With glorious flower beds featuring tulips, hyacinths & daffodils lining the main street of town, the program includes free & low cost activities, which are all held in sheltered marquees or community buildings around the town. So whether you’re strolling through a gorgeous country garden, listening to stage and roving performers, or enjoying a Devonshire tea, you will be impressed at the colour and friendliness on the wonderful Nannup community. The festival program also includes open gardens, floral, art & quilt exhibitions, garden talks & workshops, and evokes the nostalgia of historical displays and vintage cars & bikes. Mount Magnet Astro Rocks Fest

The Mount Magnet Astro-Rocks Festival is a  tried and tested astronomy (at night) and geology (by day) themed regional community event, now in its fourth year.
