Wickham winner collects $1.3 million Superdraw prize

Western Australia’s Division 1 winners continue to arrive in the Lotterywest Winner’s Room with a Wickham local collecting a Division 1 prize from Saturday’s $20 million Superdraw.

The winner, who has been playing Saturday Lotto for more than 30 years, was one of 15 people across Australia to win $1,333,333 in Saturday’s draw.

The news is still sinking in for the man who said, “I don’t think I’ll believe it’s real until I see the money in the bank!”

“I was shaking when I realised I’d won and kept checking the numbers, I think I must have been in shock.”

The man was alerted to the Wickham win on Saturday night but waited until Monday to check his ticket, hoping for a million dollar outcome.

The wait paid off and the winner is now looking forward to a stress free retirement.

The winning ticket was sold at Wickham Newsagency in the Pilbara and is the first Division 1 win for the store’s owner Pam Maginess since taking over the business in 2010.

“It’s created quite a buzz in the store and around the whole town,” said Pam. “We’re thrilled that our first Division 1 win has gone to a local who is a loyal customer.”

It’s not just our winners who get to celebrate after $281 million was returned to the WA community through Lotterywest Grants last financial year.

Last December, a Lotterywest Grant of $875,000 was given to the Ngarluma and Yindjibarndi Foundation towards the construction and fit out of Stage 3 of the Ngurin Pilbara Aboriginal Centre in Roebourne featuring a museum, a cultural archive and research library.
