Western Australia has struck it lucky in last night’s Powerball jackpot with one local player taking home a $2 million Division 1 prize.
The winning ticket was one of three sold nationally who shared in the $6 million Division 1 prize pool, with other tickets sold in New South Wales and Queensland.
WA’s $2 million ticket, which remains unclaimed, was purchased from Here’s Luck Lottery Centre in Cloverdale.
The Cloverdale store is one of WA’s luckiest Lotto spots selling 24 Division 1 winning tickets over the last 13 years. Last night’s win comes less than three months since the store last produced a $1.5 million winner.
“We’re an extremely lucky store and we keep delivering winners time and time again. There have been times we’ve had three in one year! It’s always a good feeling and we love sharing the news with our customers,” said owner of Here’s Luck Lottery Centre Sel Selvendra.
Mr Selvendra said he’d gone to great efforts to try and create luck in his store.
“We’ve spent a lot of time on the design and layout of the store which is based on Feng Shui. In particular the placement of a water fountain in front of the store which represents wealth and prosperity,” he said.
Lotterywest is still waiting to hear from WA’s newest multi-millionaire.
The State’s tally of Division 1 Lotto winners for the year has reached 58. These winners have shared in $105 million in prizes.
When you play Lotterywest games, everyone in WA wins with about a third of money spent on tickets directed to support the WA community.
Last year the City of Belmont received a $99,095 Lotterywest Grant to help with renovating Cloverdale’s Miles Park Community and Recreation Centre which offers a space for playgroups and community groups to meet.
