WA player wakes up a Lotto millionaire today just ahead of $20 million Superdraw

One Western Australian player has woken up a millionaire today after taking home a $1 million prize last night.

The ticket, which remains unclaimed, was the only Division One winner produced across the nation and was sold at newsXpress Foothills in Gosnells.

Manager of the store Eric Kang said it was the second Division One winning ticket the store had delivered in less than two years.

“We’ve done it again! It was only in December 2016 we sold a ticket also worth a million bucks,” Mr Kang said.

“I sold that winner and here’s hoping I sold last night’s too,” he laughed.

Mr Kang said he put his luck down to good customer service and few lucky charms in-store.

“We have a lucky cat and a Buddha which lots of our customers like to rub before buying their Lotto tickets,” he said.

Last night’s win brings the tally of WA Division One over for this financial year to 65.

Lotterywest spokesperson Pina Compagnone said there was still time to add a few more big winners to this list.

“What could be better than a $20 million Saturday Lotto Superdraw WA winner this weekend to finish off the financial year,” she said.

The Superdraw will see the weekly estimated $4 million Saturday Lotto prize pool bumped up to a guaranteed $20 million offer.

Ms Compagnone said Superdraws always proved very popular with WA players, with their support in the draw also helping Lotterywest to raise more than $3 million to support the WA community.

“Our stores are already reporting a busy period – in fact in WA we expect close to 700,000 tickets to be sold in the Superdraw,” she said.

“Our most popular day for buying tickets is draw day, when during our busiest hour over 500 tickets will be churning from lottery terminals every minute,” she said.

Superdraw tickets are available until 6pm Saturday from Lotterywest in-store, online or through the app.
