WA delivers double dose of Lotto luck

It was a double act of Lotto luck on the weekend with two local players each picking up Division 1 Lotto prizes worth $521,827 in Saturday night’s draw.

WA’s winning tickets were sold at Nextra Forum West Newsagency in Mandurah and The Lucky Charm Midland.

For both stores, the weekend’s success is a continuation on their already strong Lotto reputation this year with Nextra Forum West Newsagency selling a Division 1 Lotto ticket less than seven months ago and The Lucky Charm Midland selling a Set for Life 1st Prize only four months ago.

“We didn’t expect another big winner so soon so this was certainly a terrific surprise,” said manager of The Lucky Charm Midland, Cheryl Wild.

“Our store is part of The Lucky Charm group and we all seem to be doing well this year; we sell a lot of lucky Lotto tickets. You know what they say about things coming in threes, I’d say we’re in for our third big winner for this year soon!”

Staff from Nextra Forum West Newsagency are equally excited about their second Division 1 win for the year and said it’s brought a great buzz to the Mandurah community.

“Our last winners were regular customers so it was really fun to share the excitement with them. Hopefully our newest winners are regulars too, but you never know with all the people travelling around Mandurah,” said owner of the store, Jenny Cornish.

“Our aim now is to squeeze another Division 1 win in before the year is out; we’re going to try for Powerball or OZ Lotto this time!”

It’s not only WA’s Lotto winners who benefit following a draw, the local community benefits too with over $281 million going back to support the WA community last financial year.

Handbells in Peel Incorporated located in Karnup received the benefits of those who play Lotterywest Games with a $5,744 Lotterywest Grant last month. These funds were used towards equipment to support volunteers performing at community events around Mandurah.

Clarkson and Geraldton Lotto wins claimed

Two of WA’s outstanding Division 1 Lotto winners have finally come forward to claim their prizes.

The winner of a $1.3 million prize won in a Saturday Lotto Superdraw on 30 July has officially taken home his prize on a ticket purchased from newsXpress Ocean Keys in Clarkson.

A Geraldton family also claimed their $200,943 Division 1 win from last weekend’s Saturday Lotto draw.

The family, who purchased their winning ticket from Rigters Supa IGA in Geraldton, had been playing the same numbers chosen from loved ones birthday’s, for over 20 years.

“When I saw which winning numbers came up I immediately knew we’d won. I screamed and cried with joy!” said the mother.

Plans for their Lotto win include taking the family on an overseas holiday.
