WA community the big winner in tonight’s $70 million Powerball jackpot

A lucky ticket purchased in Queensland has won tonight’s entire $70 million Division 1 Powerball prize pool.

It’s the equal largest win in Australian Lotto history; the amount won once before by a group of women also from Queensland in December 2013.

While no West Australians were able to match all the winning numbers in tonight’s $70 million Powerball jackpot, 190,995 other WA players picked up a prize in the other Divisions.

This included one Division 2 winner who collected $113,059. The ticket was purchased from Esperance Lottery Centre and Newsagency.

“We’re absolutely delighted with WA’s response to tonight’s Powerball draw. We would have loved for a West Aussie to win Division 1 but the big winner tonight is the local community with an estimated $15 million raised over the game’s seven week jackpot roll,” said Lotterywest spokesperson Pina Compagnone.

The winning numbers from tonight’s draw were 18, 23, 34, 14, 4, 20 and the Powerball number 18.
