WA set to experience second highest Lotto jackpot for 2017

There are 40 million reasons for Western Australians to pick up a ticket in tonight’s OZ Lotto draw after the prize pool jackpotted to the second highest amount experienced so far this year.

Lotterywest spokeswoman Chloe Lawler said a Division 1 win in tonight’s draw would pocket one lucky punter a cool $40 million.

“It’s an absolutely life changing amount of money and the second highest jackpot we’ve experienced so far in 2017,” Ms Lawler said.

“The jackpot is a result of no one across the nation being able to match the six winning numbers for five consecutive weeks,” she added.

Ms Lawler said the State had been riding a wave of Lotto wins, averaging one Division 1 winner per week since the start of the year.

“Lotto luck seems to have taken up residence on the west coast,” she said.

“So far this year we’ve produced 27 Division 1 winners who have shared in over $66 million in prize money,” she added.

Ms Lawler said Lotterywest outlets were anticipating a busy day in-store, with sales expected to peak around 4pm.

“At that point in time it is estimated our retailers will be churning out almost 500 tickets a minute,” she said.

“Tonight’s jackpot is also expected to generate around $2.3 million for the WA community,” she added.

Punters have until 6pm tonight to purchase a ticket from Lotterywest in-store, via Play Online or by downloading the app.
