Third time’s a charm for WA Lotto winners

A couple from Bull Creek are the first of three winners to claim their $320,223 Division 1 prize from last weekend’s Saturday Lotto draw.

After playing for 24 years, the winner decided to try his luck at a different store and on his third play at Gold Edge News in Bull Creek he picked up the winning ticket!

“It’s just a blessing. Now we have peace of mind,” he said.

“We plan to go back to Gold Edge News and keep playing. I see it as a challenge to win again!”

The happy couple plan to use their winnings to help their children and upgrade their car.

Gold Edge News store owner, Geoffrey Davies, said he was very pleased the store sold its first Division 1 winning ticket.

“We’ve had so many Divisions 2 winners, it’s incredible. This Division 1 win has been a long time coming,” he said.

“I think we’ll get a roll on now and hopefully have more Division 1 wins for Saturday Lotto and across the other games.”

Already this year there have been 18 Division 1 winners who have shared in more than $15 million in prizes.

And it’s not just WA’s Lotto winners who get to celebrate with $283 million going back to the WA community through our grants last financial year.

Groups to receive a grant included the Royal Commonwealth Society, WA Branch in Bull Creek who received an $8,506 Lotterywest Grant last year towards equipment for youth mentoring programs.
