Struggling Perth couple claim $1.9 million Lotto prize

While many are hoping for a flutter in the race that stops the nation today, one Perth couple are already celebrating after claiming their $1,909,090 Division 1 prize from the weekend’s Saturday Lotto Superdraw.

The couple, who purchased their winning ticket from Belmont News in Cloverdale, were struggling financially so decided to do some discount shopping when they felt the need to buy a Lotto ticket.

“I couldn’t believe it when I checked the ticket. I just stood up and didn’t know what to do with myself. Then we started running around the house!” said the couple.

The winners said their prize money would take the pressure off financially and allow them to pay off debts, explore more of Australia, help family and friends and build a future for themselves.

“We won’t have to worry anymore, it’s just amazing. This will really change our lives.”

A further 191,849 other WA players picked up a prize in the weekend’s Superdraw, including 21 Division 2 winners who each collected $10,586.

Kwinana woman wins Wednesday Lotto million

A Kwinana woman has also visited the Lotterywest Winners’ Room to claim her $1 million Wednesday Lotto prize from last week’s draw. The winning ticket was purchased from McCauley’s Lottery Centre Orelia.

Throughout the week the woman said her palm had felt itchy, which she saw as a sign that money might be coming to her however she didn’t think it would be as much as $1 million!

“I screamed when I checked my ticket and my family thought I must have fallen over. Then I started shaking and began crying,” said the woman.

Initial spending plans for the Kwinana winner included a luxury caravan with all the trimmings.

“Not only can I get a home of my own, I’m going to be able to tick a few things off my bucket list like sky diving, riding an elephant and parasailing!”

When you play Lotterywest games, everyone in WA wins with about a third of the money spent on tickets directed to support the WA community.

The City of Kwinana recently received Lotterywest support with a $250,000 grant earlier this year. These funds were used towards a skate park in Kwinana that will enhance facilities for young people and families at the Outdoor Youth Space at Calista Oval.
