Scratchies deliver almost $58 million in prize money for 2017

Lotterywest has today revealed almost $58 million has been paid out in Scratch’n’Win prize money throughout 2017 – marking a record year of wins for the organisation.

With over 23 million tickets purchased throughout the year, Lotterywest spokeswoman Chloe Lawler said the organisation has met with 52 Top Prize winners who have pocketed a combined $3.8 million.

“We’ve seen a record number of Scratch’n’Win Top Prize winners come through our door this year,” Ms Lawler said.

“Everyone from a Noranda garbage truck driver who picked up $50,000, right through to a single mother from Joondalup who won $100,000, twice,” she added.

With plenty of Top Prizes still available across a range of Scratch’n’Win games, Ms Lawler said the lucky Scratchie suburbs to look out for were Belmont and Willetton.

“Belmont is right up there, producing five Top Prize wins worth $150,000,” she said.

“Willetton comes in a little less at three but these wins were worth a staggering $295,000,” she added.

Ms Lawler said Lotterywest is taking full advantage of the State’s winning streak, with outlets currently offering a range of gift packs tailored to suit any budget.

“These gift packs are made up of a combination of Lotto and Scratch’n’Win tickets and importantly, include a ticket in our $30 million Megadraw on 30 December,” she said.

“Not only will you be giving your loved one the chance to win big this Christmas, but every time you play with Lotterywest you’re helping us support the things that make WA great,” she added.

In 2017 alone, Scratch’n’Win sales generated over $31 million for community organisations across the State.
