Regional WA wins big this January

Regional Western Australia has delivered another Lotto millionaire following last night’s Monday Lotto draw.

The winning ticket was sold at Australind News and Post and is worth $1 million.

The overnight win marks the seventh Division 1 ticket sold in WA this month with winners sharing in almost $9 million.

Lotterywest spokeswoman Pina Compagnone said of those seven winners, four have been from regional WA.

“We’ve had Division 1 winners from the Peel region, Geraldton, Serpentine-Jarrahdale and now Australind,” Ms Compagnone said.

“They’ve shared in over $6 million worth of prizes,” she added.

Store owner Stephen Lucas said with regional WA doing it tough, they hoped the lucky winner was from the south west.

“Unemployment rates have skyrocketed, the economy has been tough and lots of people are still recovering from the fires in Yarloop and Waroona,” Mr Lucas said.

“We all look out for one-another but it would be nice to know that we’ve helped change the life of a local,” he added.

Mr Lucas, who took over ownership of the store four months ago, said he hoped regional WA’s run of Lotto luck would continue.

“Yesterday we produced the only Division 1 winning ticket across the nation,” he said.

“Tonight we have $20 million up for grabs in OZ Lotto followed by a $10 million Powerball jackpot on Thursday,” he added.

Tickets are available from Lotterywest in-store, through Play Online or by downloading the app.
