New Year’s resolutions come true for WA’s $1.3 Megadraw winners

Some of Western Australia’s Division 1 Lotto winners from the $31 million New Year’s Eve Megadraw have been rolling up this week to claim their prizes.

A couple from north of the river has picked up their $1,347,826 prize from the ticket they purchased at Doric Street Newsagency in Scarborough.

The woman said it was her New Year’s resolution to have money come her way by the end of January but couldn’t quite believe it when it happened ahead of schedule.

“I don’t get shocked easily, I’m quite a calm person but I can tell you I was shocked when I checked my ticket!” she said.

“It’s a relief moving forward knowing we won’t have to worry about debt now.”

Next through Lotterywest’s doors were newlyweds from Success who purchased their $1.3 million Division 1 winning ticket at Gateways News and Lottery Centre in Success.

Not long after calling themselves Mr and Mrs, the couple were able to add another new title to their names – millionaires.

“I saw on social media that WA had four Megadraw winners so I thought I’d check our ticket and it was so hard to believe that all six numbers were there. It’s only just starting to sink in now that we’re in the Winners Room,” said the newlyweds.

The winners said they are now able to pay off their mortgage and buy a new car.

Two shares from the ten share winning syndicate sold by West Perth Newsagency have also been claimed leaving eight shares of the syndicate unclaimed. Each share is worth $134,782. The $1.3 million Division 1 prize sold by Here’s Luck Lottery Centre in Cloverdale is also outstanding.

Last week’s millionaires come forward

Not only has Lotterywest been busy with Megadraw winners, two outstanding million dollar Division 1 Lotto prizes from last week have also been claimed.

A couple from Katanning collected their $1 million Monday Lotto prize from the ticket they bought at Katanning Lottery Centre.

“We never thought winning Lotto would happen to the average person but this shows anyone can win it,” said the winners.

They plan to use their prize money to ‘put a smile on the dials’ of their loved ones, pay off their mortgage and slow down.

A family from south of the river has also collected their $1 million prize from a ticket purchased at Bibra Lake News and Lotteries in last week’s Wednesday Lotto draw.

Something drew the new millionaires to check their ticket on the night of the draw when usually they would leave it until they bought their next lot of tickets the following week.

“$1 million is a beautiful amount of money to win, we’re going to be debt free and content now,” said the family.

It’s not only WA’s Lotto winners who benefit when you play with Lotterywest, the local community benefits too with over $281 million going back to support WA last financial year.

With so much luck surrounding WA it may be good news for those local Lotto players trying their luck in this week’s $55 million Powerball jackpot.

WA players have until 6pm Thursday to purchase their jackpot tickets in-store, through Lotterywest Play Online or the Lotterywest App.
