Mondayitis leads Bunbury woman to Lotto trifecta

A serious case of Mondayitis has turned a 35-year-old Bunbury woman into Western Australia’s newest multi-millionaire.

The public sector worker said a ‘crappy’ day at work led her to buy a bunch of Lotto tickets on her way home – one of those holding Tuesday night’s $15 million OZ Lotto windfall.

The winning ticket - a ‘Systems’ entry - delivered the Bunbury woman  $15.2 million after it was revealed that in addition to the $15 million Division 1 prize, the ticket had scooped a Division 2 win twice and Division 3, 36 times.

The woman said she had always joked and dreamt of winning the Lotto but never believed it would actually come to fruition.

“This means I can finally get out of my shoebox of a rental and buy my first home,” the woman said

“I’d also like to travel, business class maybe.”

The woman said she also planned to invest the bulk of the money and help out family and friends.

“I’m set up for life,” she said.

The winning ticket was sold from Callows Corner Lottery Centre in Busselton and marks the second $15 million win produced by WA in just over a month.

“Only three months into the year and the State is on a lucky run with 20 Division 1 winners so far,” Lotterywest spokeswoman Pina Compagnone said.

“That equates to almost seven a month,” She added.

For anyone who didn’t take out a win in this week’s OZ Lotto jackpot Ms Compagnone said the good news is you’re contributing to the things that make WA great.

“Thanks to our players and retailers last year we were able to support Bunbury’s Enable WA to the tune of $311,000,” she said.

“This money went toward improved services for people living with disability and mental illness in the South West,” she added.
