Missing in action: Albany Lotto winner yet to claim prize

Although Western Australia failed to scoop up last night’s $40 million OZ Lotto jackpot, Lotterywest is still on the search for one lucky local who is yet to claim almost $700,000 in Saturday Lotto prize money.

The Division 1 winning ticket was sold at Albany Lottery, News & Gifts and remains the talk of the town according to business owner Bob Campbell.

“We’re waiting with bated breath to hear from our winner,” Mr Campbell said.

“Although we’re yet to meet them we’ve had no shortage of customers coming in to check and recheck their tickets,” he laughed.

Lotterywest spokeswoman Chloe Lawler said punters have one year from the date of the draw to claim their prize.

“It’s still early days so it’s likely someone out there just hasn’t realised they have a ticket worth almost $700,000 sitting in their back pocket,” Ms Lawler said.

“I’d encourage anyone who purchased a ticket from Albany Lottery, News & Gifts to double check their numbers,” she added.

Ms Lawler said any unclaimed prize money was returned directly to the WA community through Lotterywest grants.

“We remain hopeful the rightful winner will come forward soon,” she said.

“The good news is even if you didn’t have a win, yesterday’s OZ Lotto jackpot generated a massive $6.7 million for the WA community with Thursday’s Powerball set to add an additional $1 million,” she added.

Ms Lawler said punters have until 6pm on draw day to purchase tickets for the Powerball jackpot from Lotterywest in-store, via Play Online or by downloading the app.
