Millions in Lotto prize money yet to be claimed

Two lucky lotto players from Western Australia are over half a million dollars richer following the sale of the State’s fourteenth and fifteenth Division 1 winning tickets for 2017.

The tickets from the long weekend’s Saturday Lotto draw were sold at Forest Lakes Newsagency and Atwell Newsagency and are collectively worth almost $1.4 million.

While a father and daughter from Thornlie wasted no time in claiming their Division 1 win Lotterywest is still waiting to hear from Atwell’s lucky punter.

Lotterywest spokeswoman Pina Compagnone said the weekend’s double win comes almost two weeks after an unclaimed Division 1 winning ticket worth $1.3 million was sold.

“The ticket was sold at Rockingham Central Lottery Centre but it was unregistered so it’s anyone’s guess as to the identity of our mystery millionaire,” Ms Compagnone said.

“It’s possible that they’re still completely in the dark about their win and walking around with a million dollar piece of paper in their back pocket,” she added.

Business owner Marie Alexander said she is urging all Saturday Lotto players who purchased a ticket at her store to check them as soon as possible.

“This is the second Division 1 winning ticket we’ve sold in less than a year,” Ms Alexander said.

“The last winner was a local and we’re hoping this one is too,” she continued.

Ms Compagnone said winners have one year from date of draw to claim their prize money.

“We’re in the business of changing lives so naturally we’re very keen for the winner to come forward,” she said.

“The good news is any unclaimed money goes directly to the community through Lotterywest grants,” she added.

Thanks to Lotterywest players over $185 million has been raised for the WA community so far this financial year.
