Maylands bachelor made latest Lotto millionaire

A Maylands bachelor has become Western Australia’s newest minted millionaire thanks to a last minute decision to pick up a Lotto ticket after getting his hair cut.

“One minute I’m making a quick trip to get my hair cut, the next I’m a millionaire,” the man laughed.

“I guess I took a chance on a lottery ticket and the results speak for themselves,” he added.

The winning ticket was purchased from Causeway Newsagency in Victoria Park. It’s the fourth Division 1 Lotto ticket purchased across the State since Saturday which hold combined prizes totalling $2.2 million.

“The first thing I’ll do is buy my first pad after years of renting,” he said.

“It won’t be a fancy million dollar home, just something comfortable that I know will be mine,” he added.

“I can also ‘pull the pin’ on work much earlier now – I reckon I’ve shaved about 10 years off my retirement plan,” he said.

WA’s tally of Division 1 Lotto winners for the year has now reached 21.

It includes two unclaimed Saturday Lotto winners from last weekend. Each ticket is worth just over $580,000. They were purchased from Shamrock Newsagency in the Perth CBD and Merriwa Plaza Newsagency.

A Super66 ticket worth over $33,000 sold from Nextra Dianella Newsagency, also remains unclaimed.

Meanwhile, there’s still time to get your tickets into tonight’s new Powerball game. New features made to the game will help to deliver bigger jackpots and more winners.

Tonight’s Powerball will offer an $8 million jackpot. Tickets are available until 6pm through Lotterywest in-store, online or through the app.

When you play a Lotterywest game all of WA wins, with the majority of funds directed back to the community.

Tickets in tonight’s jackpot are set to raise close to $1 million to support the WA community through Lotterywest grants.
