Lotto player’s first ever syndicate wins Division 1

So far, eight members of a 15 share Lotto syndicate which won Division 1 over the weekend have claimed their prizes from tickets purchased at Brighton Village Newsagency in Butler.

The first winner, a single mother from Butler, claimed her $67,546 prize this morning.

“It’s the first time I’ve ever bought a syndicate ticket. I saw it advertised on the counter and I was in a rush so I said, yep that will do!” she said.

“It’s a nice amount to win. I’d like to put some towards my mortgage and get something for the kids. And if I see something I like in the shops, I can get it now!”

“I’ll definitely buy a syndicate ticket again. I’ve been playing Lotto for years and it’s been so much fun in the Winners Room that I plan to be back here next weekend after winning the Superdraw!”

David Babington, store manager at Brighton Village Newsagency said this is the first Division 1 Lotto win they’ve had since owning the store.

“Since the win we’ve been busy with customers looking for a lucky ticket for this Saturday’s $20 million Superdraw,” he said.

The latest Division 1 win takes WA’s winners tally up to 13 for the year. These players have shared in almost $12 million in prizes.

It’s not only WA’s Lotto winners who benefit following a draw, the local community benefits too with $283 million going back to support the WA community last financial year.

Groups to receive this support include the City of Wanneroo who received a $700,000 Lotterywest Grant in December last year for the construction of the new Quinns-Mindarie Community Centre.
