In come WA’s $30 million Megadraw winners

There have been quite a few happy visitors stepping into the Lotterywest Winners Room today claiming Division 1 Lotto prizes from the weekend’s $30 million Megadraw.

Six members of a winning ten share syndicate have been in to claim their prize shares worth $200,762 each.

First in was a family from north of the river who purchased their winning share from The Lucky Charm Joondalup.

The winners said they were spending their Christmas vouchers at the shopping centre when they decided to pick up their weekly Lotto tickets.

“Christmas cheer was still in the air so we were hoping for something magical when we bought the ticket and it’s happened,” said the winners.

The family said their Lotto win would provide financial security and pay for their children’s education.

“I’ll be going back to work in a very good mood; I’m absolutely delighted,” said the man.

A Meadow Springs couple have also claimed their $200,762 syndicate share which they purchased from The Lucky Charm Meadow Springs.

It was the first time the couple had ever tried their luck with a syndicate but said they’ll definitely buy more in the future.

“We’ve always wanted an investment property but didn’t know how we could afford the deposit, so this win has come at a perfect time,” they said.

Other plans for their winnings include helping their family, a holiday and a champagne breakfast for a loved one.

There are still four other syndicate shares to be claimed, as well two Division 1 winning tickets each worth $2 million. The $2 million winning tickets were purchased from South Terrace Newsagency in Fremantle and Warricks Newsagency in Northam.

The WA community also benefited from the Megadraw with tickets sales in the draw helping Lotterywest to raise almost $6 million.

Community groups to receive this support include the Western Australian Motor Industry Foundation located in Joondalup who received an $85,450 Lotterywest Grant last month. The Grant has helped to make vehicles modifications to support disadvantaged families with members who have disability and require transportation to critical health and medical services.

$70 million Powerball jackpot on Thursday!

The first Powerball draw of 2016 will offer WA players the chance to win $70 million this Thursday – the equal second largest jackpot in the game’s history.

The Division 1 prize offer is the result of no one across the nation being able to match the game’s six winning numbers plus the Powerball for the last seven weeks.

Lotterywest spokesperson Pina Compagnone said while 432,478 WA players had managed to pick up a Powerball prize in the other Divisions over the jackpot run, she was hoping WA might strike Division 1 Lotto luck this Thursday night.

Players have until 6pm Thursday to purchase tickets for the jackpot draw in-store, through Play Online and the Lotterywest App.
