History-making jackpot week kicks off with $70 million OZ Lotto tonight

Western Australia’s history books could be re-written tonight if one local player manages to take home the entire $70 million OZ Lotto jackpot.

The record for the State’s highest win currently sits at $50 million, but that could all change following tonight’s jackpot.

“The $50 million prize was taken out by a Perth family in 2015 but we could be set to welcome an even larger winner this week,” said Lotterywest spokesperson Pina Compagnone.

“We’ve already broken records this week with the largest combined Division One prize pool up for grabs in Australian history.

“Tonight’s $70 million OZ Lotto jackpot will be followed by Thursday’s $80 million Powerball jackpot, and this the most prize money we’ve ever seen up for grabs.”

Lotterywest expects close to 1.5 million tickets to be sold across both draws in WA, with sales set to peak between 4pm and 5pm tonight.

“We expect our busiest hour today will see close to 880 tickets produced from lottery terminals each minute,” Ms Compagnone said.

“On Thursday, this will reach 950 tickets every minute.”

Players have until 6pm on jackpot day to purchase tickets from Lotterywest in store, online or through the app.

So far this year, WA has welcomed 31 Division One Lotto winners who have shared in almost $74 million worth of prizes.

Thanks to local players buying tickets in both draws over the last seven week jackpot roll, over $26 million has been raised to support the WA community.
